Perhaps I'm more attuned to this because every night the boys watch Dumbo with the pink elephants and the crows singing "I've seen everything when I've seen an elephant fly" but this seemed plausible. Scottish elephants?
Also, speaking of pink elephants, it could also be a product of the bonny lads coming home after having a wee dram more than the angel's share of the local peat fired produce.
