Athos, Porthos, and, much later on, Dave S.

Here's a Slate piece on fencing which employs the term "chess with knives" to describe the sport. "Physical chess" is the one I've heard most but I will not dispute the well-established DC Fencing Club. Incidentally the young woman mentioned in the article used to be in the same class as myself at my school.

I also just learned that the son of a former co-worker is at my school, proving unnecessarily that it's a small world and, even more unnecessarily, that I am old. Hmph.

You have a point there, Dave.

Age is a very touché subject. As is fencing. At least you didn't fence in the dark or stick gold glitter in your mask.

I would never do that, as it might injure the gymnasts.
