Lasik Side Effects Continue to Manifest Themselves

This time, it's stars just out of the corners of my eyes.

According to The Oracle of Bacon I have a Kevin Bacon Number of 4, as follows:
1. Me
2. My Lasik surgeon*
3. Tiger Woods
4. Andy Garcia
5. BACON!

Laura, meanwhile, has a Bacon Number of 3 based on the presence of Jennifer Milmore in her high school class. However, she is only a 4 via Mariah Carey, who went to high school with one of Laura's college roommates. This, is, of course, nothing to be sad about.

*Based on the advertising, about 85,000 other people have the same Bacon number as a result.

The Triumphant Return of Un Blogger Andalou

Many thanks for the good wishes expressed before and after my Lasik. The procedure went fine but
Hi! Those of you who may be slightly squeamish about eyes and stuff my want to skip down to the section marked "It's OK Now." The rest of you have been warned.
there was a minor complication the next day when the flap of my left eye had to be smoothed out with what the doctor described as a "microscopic rolling pin." That also went well and the overall prognosis is good, but my left eye is now behind my right eye in terms of healing (not in a Picasso sense). As far as my vision is concerned I can say that

"It's OK Now."

However, it makes things a bit hard to read for very long, especially at the end of the day. So this post will be a short one.

Thanks also to JJV for his soldiering on through my quasi-convalescence. I was going to say something snarky about the other, slightly less prolific half of our blogging team but I am not even sure if they read the blog.

I will leave any liveblogging of Super Tuesday to my esteemed colleague. I would also like him to say more about all of the wingnuts' visceral hatred of McCain given the angry, violent senator from Arizona's good showing thus far. Are they really going Bolshie on us or is this more like Glenn Close in Fatal Attraction?

Oh, and happy Mardi Gras! Laura works right by St. Matthew's so I will have her look out for JJV fulfilling his obligation tomorrow.

"Do you expect me to talk?" "No, Mr. Slattery, I Expect You to See 20/20!"

Although you'll need reading glasses in a couple of years...
Those of you who know me are aware of my inability to see - anything - without glasses whose prescription rivals that of the Hubble Space Telescope. This coming Thursday, that will change as I go under the beam for Lasik. There was a slight delay as workers labored to complete the extra-power laser required. Fortunately the clinic is just down the street from the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (this is actually true) so a sufficient power source is in place, with none of the regional brownout that would otherwise have attended the event.

By coincidence, the physician pushing the buttons also corrected Tiger Woods' eyes, whose prescription actually was identical to mine. We shall see how it affects my golf game. (I am a scratch golfer in the sense of having scratched golf from the List of Things I Can Do.)

In the meantime, the post-procedure regimen is: no computer, no reading, for at least 24 hours. As a software designer who enjoys reading and, yes, blogging, this will be a bit of a challenge.

The image and post title are of course from Goldfinger, the best Bond film there is and ever will be. Hey, is that a gauntlet on the floor?
