Now that the rancor of the NFL postseason has given way to the onset of exhibition baseball (Go Nats!), I feel we are all sufficiently calm to be updated on the controversy surrounding the viewing of pro football games in church.
The NFL has bowed (genuflected, if you will) to the furor. However, the Vatican has not yet responded to the request to make Super Bowl Sunday a Holy Day of Obligation.

Thank God there's nothing better for Congress to do than support churches showing NFL games on their TVs. This is clearly one of those "headline wags story" pieces that headline composers dream about.
