New Roadblock to International Relation(ship)s

The government of Belarus has placed limits on online dating/marriage sites.

I can understand the impetus behind the law - human trafficking is a resurgent scourge - but my immediate reaction to anything Lukashenko does is to oppose it as an infringement on the human rights of an already-oppressed nation. As a recovering veteran of education exchange programs with the former USSR*, the permission slip requirement for foreign study is one more barrier to the deserving students who lack an in with the thugs in charge, as well as a weapon to wield against those who do end up studying outside of Belarus (presumably permission could be withdrawn at any time).

*The therapy for this is to do something else. Works like a charm.
