Sic Semper Tyrannis

This is the last day to post this year. It ends with the death of Saddam Hussein at the end of a rope. I think the current problems of Iraq are not appreciably improved by his death but they are slightly improved and that is something. Moreover, as has been said before it is not enough that justice be done, but that it be seen to be done, for people to have hope. Until we deal with Iran and Syria terror in Iraq will continue but less and less will be by old time Baathist hanger-ons. As the motto of Virginia makes clear, this was a just end for a evil man.

i watched the video. it was vengance, not justice.

Sometimes these things can be both. Having the Mahdi Army there was unfortunate. It would have been justice even if we had shot him summarily in his spider hole.

only if you allow the fog of war to obscure your moral compass

I am beginning to suspect that JJV's moral compass is nailed in place, so whichever way he turns he is going in the right direction.
