Today at work, a younger colleague dismissed the still somber mood in remembering 2001 as "it was seven years ago" and implied by her tone that people should be over it.
It probably depends on where you were and how you may have been immediately impacted by the day. After work this evening, I drove past the Pentagon to pay my respects to those who lost their lives.
I did think back today about when I worked in a retirement community for retired military officers and their spouses. There were a few who commemorated December 7th and Pearl Harbor by having cocktails and "getting bombed". I'm sure after so many years they were thankful they survived and served their country well...they were also 50+ years past 1941.
Hopefully time will continue to bring solace to those who need it.
