Dems' Fightin' Words

I'm a little late in bringing this nugget from the Washington Post to light. It relates to a minor beef that the Federation for American Immigration Reform (FAIR) recently had when it rented out, to the tune of 5 Gs, the impressive National Postal Museum. It seems that FAIR's status with the Southern Poverty Law Center, which labels FAIR a "hate group," and the Anti-Defamation League, which decries FAIR's "xenophobic message," has led the erstwhile apolitical Smithsonian to deem FAIR a partisan, political, or religious organization. That means no more plum Smithsonian venues for the hardworking staff at FAIR. Indeed, who's defaming whom?

I've personally never known FAIR's employees past or present to be haters or xenophobes, but my sample size is admittedly pretty small. If I'm shipping tax dollars off to ACORN, however, can't I get a say in renting out public space for 5-large to a group like FAIR?

Why discriminate in a time of fiscal crisis? This might be an ideal spot for Qaddafi to pop his tent unless DC work permits are difficult to obtain.
